BEAUTIFUL::AFRICA is a non-profit initiative to support Beautiful Gate, a care and training center for vulnerable children and families in Lesotho, Africa.

Approximately 23% of Lesotho’s 1.8 million residents have HIV/AIDS (one of the highest per-capita rates of AIDS in the world). Most of the population, 56%, live on under $2 a day. This poverty and AIDS pandemic has led to the phenomenon of abandoned babies.

That’s where Beautiful Gate come in. The donor supported Beautiful Gate provides residential and medical care to abandoned, HIV/AIDS affected children ages 0 –5 years. The center currently employs 65 care-givers, teachers, administrators and maintenance staff from the surrounding community, providing valuable employment in an area where jobs are difficult to find.

The challenge facing the Center is that there is more need than current resources can meet. Many more children could be cared for. More care-givers could be employed. Giving to the BEAUTIFUL::AFRICA campaign supports the Beautiful Gate care center and ultimately gives the gift of love & hope to children who otherwise would have none.
