Beautiful Gate’s Impact

Beautiful Gate is well known in the area surrounding Maseru, Lesotho, as a shining example of how to care for children. Since its establishment in June 2001, the center has cared for over 260 HIV/AIDs effected babies, and has seen more than 112 adopted both locally and internationally with the cooperation of Social welfare department of Lesotho.

Beautiful Gate’s Challenges

One of the main challenges facing Beautiful Gate is to finance the 365-day-a-year, high-quality care these children receive in their “baby houses”.

There are four “baby houses” at Beautiful Gate, named Khotso 1, Khotso 2, Pula 1 and Pula 2. Each house regularly houses approximately 13 children. In addition, each house employs 3 support staff and 1 full time house mom from the local community to provide hands-on care to the children.

What About Child Sponsorship?

Because Beautiful Gate’s successful adoption program causes a high turn-over rate at the care center, individual child sponsorship is not feasible. As an alternative, Beautiful Gate is introducing its Sponsor-A-House program.

About Sponsor-A-House

The Sponsor-A-House program has been established to ensure protection of each child’s story and a high quality of care for all children that come to the Beautiful Gate care center. The goal of Sponsor-A-House program is to help finance the daily care provided to the children at Beautiful Gate.

Upon sponsorship you will be assigned a house to which your gifts will be used directly for the needs of the children in that house.

Be Part of the Family!

Each house will have multiple sponsors that will make up that house’s “sponsor family”. Each member of the sponsor family will receive quarterly updates on their house to keep them informed about the children in their house. The updates will include an up-to-date picture of the children, house developments and prayer requests.

Welcome to the Family!

Upon sponsorship you will be sent a welcome package including your first quarterly house update and an origami prayer reminder introducing you to your new family. We hope that your paper house will be a reminder to petition for your extended family in Lesotho, Africa.
